Melissa Barrett, violinist, has been associate concertmaster of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra since 1989. Originally from Detroit, she received her Bachelor's degree in performance from Michigan State University and her Master's degree in performance from the Eastman School of Music. Previous to tenure with the JSO, Melissa was violin instructor at Sam Houston State University, during which time she performed with the faculty piano trio. Ms. Barrett has participated in many summer music festivals, is an active chamber musician, and also enjoys teaching.

James Berry, keyboardist, is music director at Hilton Head Christian Academy. Growing up, he studied trumpet and piano, then earned music degrees at Gordon College (MA) and Boise State University (ID). He won the 2006 Boise State Symphonic Concerto Competition and can be heard now playing piano on a variety of vocal, classical, bluegrass and jazz recordings. Cynthia Hopkins, flutist, is a member of the SC Philharmonic, the Augusta Symphony, the Dick Goodwin Quintet, Charleston Chamber Players, and the Columbia Flute & Harp Duo. A native South Carolinian, Cynthia grew up in Charleston and earned music degrees at University of South Carolina. After additional study in NYC and elsewhere, she returned to South Carolina and in 1997 joined the music faculty of Furman University in Greenville. She maintains a thriving flute studio at Furman as well as a full pre-college studio in Columbia.

Laura Sutton Floyd, soprano, moved to Hilton Head in 1999, after serving 14 years on the voice faculty of Hope College (MI). She holds music degrees from University of Louisville and Michigan State University. A frequent soloist with the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra, area choral groups and regional opera companies, Laura also is active in the music program of First Presbyterian Church, maintains a private voice studio, and concertizes with her husband, clarinetist Russell Floyd.

Russell Floyd, clarinetist, serves as Minister of Music at First Presbyterian Church. Originally from Lake City (SC), he received music degrees from Furman University, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Michigan State University (PhD). He taught at Olivet College and, most recently, Hope College (MI). Rusty has conducted choral organizations, wind ensembles, and two youth symphonies. While in Michigan Rusty performed with the Grand Rapids and other regional symphonies, and he is currently principal clarinetist with the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra.

Yvonne Johnson, violist, performs with the Savannah Philharmonic, teaches violin pedagogy at Armstrong Atlantic State University and violin classes at a Montessori school in Savannah. She was a member of Savannah Symphony for seven seasons and has played with the Minnesota, Toledo (OH), Schleswig-Holstein Festival, and Aspen Festival orchestras. She has participated in recordings with Garrison Keillor of The Prairie Home Companion and with the Cleveland Chamber Symphony. Yvonne has an undergraduate degree from St. Olaf College and a M.M. from Indiana University.

Tristan Lehnert, violinist, lives in Beaufort where he and his wife are small business owners. Raised in Colorado, he studied at University of Colorado and at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. His primary teacher was Dorothy DeLay. He has been concertmaster of the Breckenridge Music Institute Orchestra, belonged to the Oregon Symphony and Chicago Grant Park Symphony, and toured on four continents as a member of the Premiat Trio.

Asako Kremer, violinist, is a member of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. She was born in Japan, received her Master's degree from Mannes College of Music (NYC), attended Meadowmount School of Music (NY), and now lives in Charleston. Asako and her husband Damian also comprise the Kremer Duo, which concertizes during the summers in Japan.

Angela Maleh, cellist, lives in Plantation, Florida. With a Master's degree in performance from Yale University -- where her principal teacher was Aldo Parisot -- she performed with the Grammy award winning cello choir, Yale Cellos, and participated in that ensemble's Carnegie Hall appearance. She has also played with the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra, the Savannah Symphony, the Naples Philharmonic, and Palm Beach Pops. She is a founding member of the Chagall Chamber Ensemble and performed recently with the Philadelphia Chamber Orchestra in its touring concert in South Florida.

Jean Shamo, pianist, has lived in Hilton Head since 1996. Her piano performance degree is from the University of Michigan, and she was a frequent chamber musician during the 25 years she lived in Chicago. In 1976 Jean earned her CPA certificate and began work in the corporate world. In 1990 she earned CFP certification and established a financial planning business, which she continues here on the Island. She and her husband, Bob, are founders and Artistic Co-Directors of Chamber Music Hilton Head.

Lauren Stuligross is principal oboist with the Hilton Head Orchestra and music leader of the new CrossRoads worship service at First Presbyterian Church in Hilton Head. Lauren graduated from State University of New York at Fredonia and spent the next ten years in Vermont, where she taught music, performed with the Vermont Symphony and other regional orchestras, participated in a professional woodwind quintet, and served as General Manager of the Vermont Mozart Festival. She has also performed in the Albany (NY) area and in 1993 toured France with the New York Chamber Soloists.

Bob Shamo is co-founder and artistic co-director of Chamber Music Hilton Head. A violist, he was a member of the Governor's State University String Quartet (IL) and for 31 years a member of the Chicago Grant Park Orchestra. He taught at Lake Forest and Willowbrook high schools (IL), University of Illinois and Northern Illinois University. Bob was Director of Admissions for DePaul University School of Music when he retired a few years ago.
